Hendy’s Opens on Henderson Avenue With Cocktail Vibes, Cozy Decor, and a Late-Night Food Twist

Hendy’s on Henderson Gives Dallas a Stylish New Hangout With a Kick of Personality

DALLAS, TX — I’m not sure what I expected when I heard Sfuzzi was out and something new was moving into that familiar Henderson Avenue corner — but Hendy’s? Hendy’s brought the kind of surprise I live for. The kind where you walk in expecting “just another neighborhood bar” and end up thinking about the chandeliers for the next two days.

This & That Hospitality has officially introduced Hendy’s, a bold yet cozy refresh of the former Capitol Pub space at 2401 N Henderson Avenue. Designed for locals, late-nighters, and anyone looking to settle into a booth with dim lights and dangerously creative cocktails, it already feels like it’s been part of the neighborhood for years — in the best way.

A Place That Actually Feels Like a Place

From the second you step inside Hendy’s, it’s clear this isn’t a copy-paste concept. The walls are wrapped in deep green accents, the couches are tufted leather, and yes — those antler chandeliers actually work in here. There’s even a fireplace that looks like it belongs in a mountain lodge more than a Dallas corridor.

When I visited, I caught the golden hour light pouring through the new sliding doors that open to the patio. It cast this quiet, burnished glow across the wood shelves and backroom nooks. It’s the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay an extra drink — and that’s not something you can fake with trendy wallpaper.

The Menu: Peja Krstic Puts on a Clinic

Hendy’s partnered with Mot Hai Ba’s Chef Peja Krstic, and that collaboration shows. The small plates section reads like a highlight reel: crispy dumplings, smoked salmon dip, and beef tartare that’s both rich and clean. When I say this tartare had no business being that smooth on a happy hour menu, I mean it.

The large plates bring the comfort — lasagna, rigatoni, steak frites — but it’s the attention to detail that gets you. Sauces that feel homemade. Pasta with some actual bite. It’s familiar food done by people who clearly care.

I went for the fish tacos and a starter of burrata, and yes, I’m a sucker for burrata — but this one hit different with the chili oil drizzle. Like the chef knew someone like me would be sitting there, quietly judging, until the heat kicked in.

Drinks That Aren’t Playing Around

Let’s talk drinks. I tried the Roger Rabbit, because when a cocktail literally includes carrot juice, how do you not? Somehow it worked. It was slightly sweet, earthy, and weirdly refreshing — like a spa day in a glass.

But if you’re not the carrot type, they’ve got a frozen Sour Patch Kid margarita (nostalgic and surprisingly balanced), a spicy pickle margarita for the brave, and a series of housemade jam seltzers that I didn’t try, but will absolutely come back for.

Late-Night Bites You’ll Brag About

One thing I found especially smart: Hendy’s Meals, a to-go late-night box launching soon. Options include a smashburger or chicken tenders with fries, all boxed and ready for the midnight crowd. At $15 a box, it feels like the perfect “I stayed too long and need to refuel” fix. If you’ve ever wandered out of a bar craving something hot that isn’t a sad slice of pizza, you’ll get it.

Worth the Return?

Absolutely. Hendy’s isn’t reinventing the wheel, but it’s not trying to. What it’s doing is delivering style, comfort, and flavor with just enough edge to keep you curious.

It’s casual without being lazy, cool without trying too hard, and exactly the kind of place I find myself recommending to friends before I’ve even left the parking lot.

What’s your favorite new opening in Dallas lately? Drop a comment and let me know what spot I should hit next. I’m always looking for the next Fresh Find.
